The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently announced the formation of a federal multi-agency task force to address the illegal distribution and sale of e-cigarettes.
This task force will unite various law enforcement agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS), and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), to tackle the illegal distribution and sale of e-cigarettes using comprehensive criminal and civil tools.
To date, FDA has issued over 1,100 warning letters and filed civil money penalty complaints against numerous manufacturers, importers, distributors, and retailers for illegal e-cigarette sales. The establishment of this task force aims to further these efforts through coordinated enforcement strategies.
Our team is here to help you navigate this evolving legal landscape. We offer comprehensive services to assist manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and others in adhering to the latest FDA requirements and those of other agencies, ensuring your business remains compliant and protected from potential legal repercussions.
