SENIOR ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY
Remote | Full-Time

Clark-Esposito Law Firm, P.C. is a boutique federal regulatory compliance firm helping businesses navigate complex U.S. and international regulatory frameworks. Our practice spans U.S. Customs and import/export compliance, FDA regulatory matters, OFAC sanctions and restricted party screening, FTC, CPSC, BIS, CFIUS, FMC, and TTB, among others. Our clients range from importers and exporters to manufacturers, distributors, and global traders operating at the intersection of commerce and federal law.

We are not a generalist firm. We operate in a focused, specialized niche where few attorneys practice, and we are serious about the quality of our work and the growth of our team. We are now looking for a Senior Associate Attorney who is ready to do excellent work, take ownership over matters, and grow alongside us.

This role is designed for someone who is motivated by more than a paycheck. We want someone who is hungry, dependable, and genuinely excited about building a meaningful legal career in a supportive, well-organized remote environment. If you thrive with autonomy, take pride in your work product, and want to eventually help shape what this firm becomes, this may be the right fit.

Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate may come from a different area of law. We are open to training the right attorney in our practice areas, provided they bring strong legal ability, professional maturity, sound judgment, and the motivation to learn. What we need is someone who can hit the ground running on substantive work while also thinking ahead about how they can grow their own practice within the firm.

You may be:

  • A solo practitioner who loves practicing law but is ready to leave behind the overhead and business management that comes with running your own firm

  • An attorney who has been working in a larger firm or government setting and is ready for more autonomy, a tighter team, and a real opportunity to grow

  • An attorney in a related regulatory, compliance, or transactional practice who is drawn to the intersection of federal law, international trade, and business strategy

  • Someone who wants to bring their own clients over time while still having a home base with structure, support, and strong systems

Qualifications

  • Licensed attorney in good standing. Active bar membership required. Multi-state or federal bar admission a plus.

  • Minimum 4 years of legal experience. Prior attorney experience required; this is not an entry-level position.

  • Strong writing, research, and analytical skills. You produce properly formatted, well-reasoned work product without hand-holding.

  • Excellent judgment and professional communication. You know how to talk to clients, manage expectations, and represent the firm well in every interaction.

  • Self-directed and accountable. You manage your own deadlines, flag issues proactively, and do not need daily supervision to stay on track.

  • Curious and teachable. You do not need to arrive knowing our practice areas, but you must be genuinely willing to learn them.

  • Interested in business development. Whether you are currently doing it or ready to start, you understand that growing a practice matters and are willing to invest in it.

  • Comfortable in a remote environment. You have the tools, discipline, and communication habits to work effectively and stay connected with a distributed team.

What You Will Do

  • Support ongoing client matters with substantive legal work, including drafting, analysis, regulatory research, client communication, and matter management

  • Take ownership of assignments from start to finish, communicating proactively about status, deadlines, and next steps

  • Learn and develop competency in the firm's core practice areas, including federal import/export compliance, OFAC and sanctions, FDA regulatory matters, and related fields

  • Participate in thought leadership, networking, and business development activities to elevate your own profile and the firm's visibility

  • Contribute to new client generation by building relationships and identifying opportunities in your professional network

  • Work collaboratively with the managing attorney and team in a structured, well-run remote environment

  • Represent the firm with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to excellence in every interaction

What Makes This Different

This is not a traditional associate position where you bill hours and wait to be told what to do. We are building a firm that runs with real infrastructure, clear systems, and attorneys who take ownership over their work and their future. As you grow in production and in business development, the opportunity grows with you.

We offer:

  • A base salary with additional earning opportunity tied to performance and client origination

  • Real mentorship from the managing attorney in a specialized, high-value practice area

  • Administrative, operational, and marketing support so you can focus on legal work and business development

  • Access to internal systems, standard operating procedures, and firm infrastructure

  • A collaborative environment where your wins are shared wins, and where there is room to grow into greater responsibility over time

  • Remote, full-time work with a firm that is organized, professional, and genuinely invested in doing things right

Compensation

Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a base salary plus performance and origination-based earning opportunities. Final terms will be discussed with selected candidates. We are looking for the right long-term fit, and we will structure compensation to reflect that.

How to Apply

Qualified applicants should submit a resume and cover letter to contact@clarkespositolaw.com.

Your cover letter must include three specific paragraphs addressing the following:

  • (1) A brief description of your current or most recent legal work, including the types of matters you have handled and the clients you have served.

  • (2) Specific examples of how you demonstrate initiative, accountability, and professional growth in your practice.

  • (3) Why you are applying for this specific role at this firm, and what you are looking to build in the next phase of your career.

In addition, to ensure we are aligned with your expectations, we ask you to provide us with your preferred salary range in your last sentence.

To be considered, please include the code CELFSenior2026 in the subject line of your email. Applications that do not include this code will not be reviewed. We read cover letters carefully, and we notice when someone follows instructions.

Applications are confidential. We are reviewing candidates on a rolling basis.
