OFAC Updates Week 1/25/21



January 25, 2021

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has issued General License No. 13 "Authorizing Transactions involving Ansarallah." Ansarallah was recently designated as a terrorist entity so this action has been classified as a counter terrorism precaution by OFAC. OFAC has also amended frequently asked question (FAQ) 876.


OFAC's sanctions list search tool has been upgraded with a fuzzy logic component which will expand the depth of searching and improve performance of the search system.


January 27, 2021

OFAC has issued General License 1A "Authorizing Transactions Involving Securities of Certain Communist Chinese Military Companies." In response to Executive Order 13959, "Addressing the Threat from Securities Investments that Finance Communist Chinese Military Companies," OFAC has been structuring sanctions around transactions involving Chinese Military Companies. Alongside this new General License, OFAC has also published FAQs 878 and 879.
