OFAC Updates Week 8/9/21

August 9, 2021

President Biden has issued the executive order (E.O.), "Blocking Property of Additional Persons Contributing to the Situation in Belarus." In response to this E.O., the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has issued Belarus General License 4. OFAC has also updated their Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) with FAQ 916, 917 and 918. Finally, OFAC has also updated their Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN) List with forty-three Belarus-related designations.


August 11, 2021

OFAC and the Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) jointly issued a fact sheet to inform the general public of the U.S. government's commitment to promoting the ability of the Cuban people to seek, receive and impart information through encouraging the development of internet and related telecommunications services. The fact sheet highlights the most relevant exemptions and authorizations needed to support this development for the Cuban people.


August 13, 2021

OFAC has updated their SDN List with counter terrorism, Global Magnitsky and Iran-related designations. The designations included three individuals, five entities and a single crude oil tanker vessel.
