OFAC Updates Week 12/6/21

December 6, 2021

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has updated their Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN) List with Global Magnitsky [GLOMAG] designations and updates. One individual and twelve entities that are either located in or affiliated with the Democratic Republic of the Congo were designated while there were also three designation updates to entities from the same country.


December 7, 2021

OFAC has updated their SDN list with GLOMAG, Iran-related, Syria and Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act [CAATSA] designations. There were eighteen new designations and a single designation update.


December 8, 2021

OFAC has reached a settlement agreement of $133,860 with a single U.S. person to settle their potential civil liability for four apparent violations of the Iranian Transactions and Sanctions Regulations. The single individual received four payments on behalf of an Iranian company using their personal bank account between February and March 2016.


December 9, 2021

OFAC has updated their SDN list with GLOMAG designations and designation updates. There were fifteen new designations regarding individuals and entities in Angola, Liberia, South Sudan, Macau, Ukraine, Guatemala and El Salvador. There was also a single designation update for an individual from Sudan.


December 10, 2021

OFAC has updated their SDN and Non-SDN Chinese Military-Industrial Complex Companies (NS-CMIC) Lists with a variety of designations. Twenty-six designations were added to the lists including entities and individuals from Bangladesh, Burma, China, North Korea, Russia and Hong Kong.


OFAC has issued General License 16, Authorizing Noncommercial, Personal Remittances to Afghanistan. Additionally, OFAC has amended relevant Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) 931 and published FAQ 949.
