OFAC Updates Week 4/12/21

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has amended four frequently asked questions (FAQs) concerning the Trade Sanctions Reform and Export Enhancement Act of 2000 (TSRA) and Sudan Program and Darfur Sanctions. The amended FAQs are the following: FAQ 97, FAQ 98, FAQ 500 and FAQ 836.


April 13, 2021

OFAC has updated their Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN) List with a Kingpin Act designation and Cuba-related designation removal. The Kingpin Act designation, which are placed upon individuals believed to be partaking in the trafficking of narcotics, was placed upon a single Mexican individual.


April 15, 2021

OFAC has updated their SDN List and FAQs in response to a new Executive Order (E.O.). The E.O., Blocking Property with Respect to Specified Harmful Foreign Activities of the Government of the Russian Federation, was issued in response to suspected efforts to undermine democratic elections and institutions in the United States. OFAC has issued a new directive detailing how the relevant property will be blocked. Additionally, OFAC has issued FAQs 886, 887, 888, 889, 890 and 891. OFAC has also updated FAQs 673, 674, 675 and 676.
