OFAC Updates Week 11/22

November 22, 2021

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has updated their Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN) List with counter-terrorism and Syria-related designations. Four new designations were added while twenty-two deletions were made. Additionally, twenty two changes were made to prior designations.


November 23, 2021

OFAC has updated their SDN List with two PEESA designations of an entity and a vessel. PEESA designations are related to the blocking of property related to certain Russian energy export pipelines.


November 24, 2021

OFAC has adopted a final rule to amend the Syrian Sanctions Regulations to expand an existing authorization related to certain activities of nongovernmental organizations in Syria. The regulatory amendment took effect on Friday November 26, 2021. Additionally Frequently Asked Question(FAQ) 937 and 938 regarding Syria were also added.


OFAC has also issued Venezuela-related General License 8I, Authorizing Transactions Involving Petroleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PdSVA) Necessary for the Limited Maintenance of Essential Operations in Venezuela or the Wind Down of Operations in Venezuela for Certain Entities.
